Rowlitics
Are you looking for more info on your rowing workout rather than the usual output from your NK device? Then welcome to Rowlitics!
Leonid Haskin was looking for more info than the NK StrokeCoach provided and has come up with a serious tool that will help you improve your rowing training.
The tool Leonid created is called Rowlitics, an app for iOS or Android devices. His goal is to provide an alternative to the NK SpeedCoach while adding some additional analysis and insights for rowers. It's currently free, so if you're interested, give it a try and share your feedback.
For iPhone:
For Android:
NK SpeedCoach: Yes, you would use your phone instead of the SpeedCoach. Leonid’s goal is to create something that provides all the SpeedCoach functionality, plus much more detailed post-row analysis.
Sensors: The app currently supports Bluetooth heart rate monitors (Polar, Garmin, etc.). PM5 connectivity is on his roadmap, as well as to support other Bluetooth-enabled rowing machines.
Graphics: There are already quite a few graphs and analytics in the app—pace, stroke rate, heart rate, boat balance, stroke analysis, with more visualizations being added over time.
Download: Yes, and you can upload them into Strava. It's a feature that is not yet open to everyone but can be added.
Leonid’s main focus has been on giving rowers insights that they normally don't get from a SpeedCoach or other rowing apps. For example, the app automatically analyzes every stroke, calculates boat balance, and provides detailed stroke-by-stroke metrics that can help identify technique issues and measure consistency over a session.
To help you understand how the app works, the first one explains how to use the app, and the second one explains how to connect the heart rate monitors.
There are several analytics that can be easily obtained from the app. The screenshots below are just a small sample of the analytics that can be viewed from the app.
